Alec Baldwin, who has been playing the role of the president on SNL since 2016, opened the season premiere with a phone call to a former Mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani, portrayed by Kate McKinnon, announcing that he is being impeached. “It’s the greatest presidential harassment of all time,” he stated. “I should know. I’m like the president of harassment.” Giuliani calmly answered, “Nobody’s gonna find out about our illegal side dealings with the Ukraine. Or how we tried to cover up those side dealings. Or how we planned to cover up the cover up.” To which Trump asked, “Where are you right now?” Giuliani replies, “I’m on CNN right now,”
After hanging up the phone on Giuliani, Trump continued to receive and make calls to other administration members and family, to find an urgent solution to his impeachment inquiry. Aidy Bryant’s Attorney General William Barr; Beck Bennett’s Vice President Mike Pence; and Alex Moffat and Mikey Day’s Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. These are some of the names the President tried to reach out for guidance.
Trump ultimately seek the advice of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, played by new featured actor Bowen Yang, asking him how to deal with the whistleblower. Jong Un had a simple solution for it, “You have a big ocean in your country? Send whistleblower to the bottom of there.”
Trump decides to make a phone call with Kanye West, played by Chris Redd, and Don King, played by Kenan Thompson, in hopes of securing their support. However, the call ended up being unsuccessful after West told the president, “I don’t think we can be fam no more, fam.”
Finally, Trump tries to reach out to actor Liev Schreiber, who portrays himself, asking him to be a ‘fixer’ of his current chaotic situation, but Schreiber explains that the Ray Donovan that he is looking for is a fictional character
To that, Trump curiously responds: “If you can’t do it, can you connect me with John Wick?”
