Author George R.R. Martin is working on a TV project set around 300 years before the events in the popular Game of Thrones series took place. Although HBO has yet to comment on the pilot, it is said that the prequel would focus on the downfall of the House Targaryen, one of the major ruling families in the series. The series is said to be inspired by Martin’s book Fire and Blood.

Ideas for spinoffs were circling at HBO as soon as the news that Game of Thrones would be airing its final season in May. Since the end of GOT, a new series is already in the works. The HBO spinoff stars Naomi Watts.

Ryan Condal, co-creator of Colony, and Lost producer Carlton Cuse are working on the project with Martin.
