Amazon’s ‘Lord Of The Rings’ Casts Markella Kavenagh In Key Role
The new Lord of the Rings series at Amazon has made its first casting decision.
It has been reported that Markella Kavenagh is in talks for a role, but there are very few details about her potential character. Kavenagh will be playing a character named Tyra.
Kavenagh is known for her role in Romper Stomper, an Australian film, as well as Picnic at Hanging Rock and The Cry.
The upcoming series is being developed by the writing team of JD Payne and Patrick McKay. Game of Thrones Bryan Cogman has also signed on as a consultant on the project. J.A. Bayona is also set to direct multiple episodes.
There is not much information regarding the Lord of the Rings series except that it will explore a new storyline preceding The Fellowship of the Ring.
The show’s official Twitter account tweeted an image along with the following caption: “One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne. In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.”
They also tweeted another image saying: “One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them, In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie. #LOTRonPrime”
The final tweet they made about the upcoming series was a link to Amazon and captioned it with, “Welcome to the Second Age.”
In the Tolkien mythology, the Second Age was the time in which the Rings of Power, including Sauron’s One Ring, came into existence.
