Known as the ‘Godmother of Soul,’ Patti Labelle recently had a street in Philadelphia named after her.

On Tuesday, the singer was honored with a stretch of Broad Street which was renamed “Patti Labelle Way” in her hometown of Philadelphia.

She thanked her fans by singing one of her hits, “Love, Need, and Want You.”

Labelle spoke about how her parents used to walk along this road and that she felt blessed.

At the ceremony, she wore a patterned blazer and pants, with a silky-long scarf that was tied in a bow around the neck. The look complimented her copper hair.

Labelle made a breakthrough with her first No.1 hit “Lady Marmalade” when she was the lead singer of the group Labelle. She was also a successful soloist with songs such as, “You Are My Friend” and “New Attitude.”
