Brad Pitt has fired back at ex-wife Angelina Jolie‘s accusations that he is avoiding paying child support, and now Jolie is saying Pitt is simply trying to “distract” from this fact.

Pitt’s attorney reportedly called Jolie’s claims against him “a thinly veiled effort to manipulate media coverage” in a statement.

The celebrity couple married in 2014 after 11 years together, and then filed for divorce in September 2016. Jolie, 43, and Pitt, 54, share six children together.

“What has been filed by Brad’s side today is a blatant attempt to obfuscate the truth and distract from the fact that he has not fully met his legal obligations to support the children,” Jolie’s lawyer said in her own statement, which was shared by Us Weekly.

According to Fox News, Pitt has paid $1.3 million in miscellaneous bills to support his children. Ever since he and Jolie split, the pair have been locked in a heated dispute over child support agreements. Oscar-winner Jolie has previously stated that she was concerned by Pitt’s parenting habits.

Aside from this child custody battle, the couple are seeking to finalize their divorce.

Among Pitt’s most recent projects was the 2017 Netflix film War Machine. He is next set to start alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie in Quentin Tarantino‘s Charles Manson crime drama Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, scheduled for release in 2019.

Jolie last directed and co-wrote the 2017 Netflix film First They Killed My Father, based on the memoir of the same name by Cambodian human rights activist Loung Ung. The movie was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at this year’s Golden Globe Awards.
