Sam Smith & Brandon Flynn Reportedly Broken Up, Tells Fans He’s ‘Going Through S––t’

On Wednesday night, Grammy winner Sam Smith performed at the Barclays Center on his The Thrill of It All tour. He told the audience he’s had it rough lately.

“I know that everyone in this room right now is going through some s—t. I know I’m going through some s—t,” Smith said. “Tonight I want all of us to just leave all of our worries and all of our heartache aside and let’s have some fun.”

Earlier the same day, reports revealed the “Stay With Me” singer split with 13 Reasons Why star Brandon Flynn after nine months of dating. Additionally, Smith removed some pictures with Flynn from his Instagram. The two have even unfollowed each other.

A source told The Sun that Smith is heartbroken, adding that the two split due to busy careers and differing schedules:

“Sam and Brandon had a real whirlwind romance. They really fell for each other. But they are both so busy with their careers and unfortunately things just haven’t worked out,” the source revealed. “Sam is obviously devastated. This is the most significant relationship he has ever had.”

In January, Smith discussed his relationship and the joy it brought him, even considering writing “happy love songs.”

“I’m in a relationship right now and for the first time, I think I deserve to be happy,” Smith said. “I’m actually asking myself if I’m going to be writing some happy love songs soon.”
