Director and producer Jordan Peele has admitted to ugly crying after finding out about his four Academy Awards nominations for his 2017 film Get Out.

Early Tuesday morning, Peele, 38, took to Twitter to share his excitement over his Oscar nominations for Get Out, three of those nominations are for Peele himself. The movie was nominated for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Director and Best Actor for Daniel Kaluuya.

After the Oscar nominations were revealed, Peele started his excited thread early in the morning when he tweeted a single GIF from a scene from the movie with no caption or explanation.

His next tweet followed about 30 minutes later, where he references his movie again. After receiving four nominations, Peele felt as if he was in “the opposite of the Sunken Place.”

Immediately following that tweet, Peele admitted to failing to hide his ugly cry while he shared the news with Kaluuya over the phone.

Peele ended his tweet thread by crediting the fans with the film’s success.

This is the first time that Peele has been nominated for an Academy Award.

The Oscars, which will be host by Jimmy Kimmel, will take place on March 4 on ABC at 6:30 p.m. EST.
