Demi Lovato has announced that she is a new ambassador for mental health at Global Citizen.

DEMI LOVATO IS GLOBAL CITIZEN MENTAL HEALTH AMBASSADOR

In an Instagram post, the singer made the announcement and said “It’s an honor to be the new Mental Health Ambassador for @glblctzn 🙏🏼 Excited for the pilot program we have planned with @SavetheChildren in Iraq!‬ SWIPE LEFT ❤️.”

Global Citizen is “a social action platform for a global generation that wants to solve the world’s biggest challenges.” Lovato has been a strong supporter and advocate for those dealing with mental health issues. She revealed that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and discussed the impact of self-harm, and has been open about her own journey. She has spoken about her drug addiction and eating disorder as well.

“I am so proud to partner with Global Citizen as their official ambassador for Mental Health with focus on vulnerable communities around the world,” she said in the pages of her Instagram post. “With their support and our combined platforms, I will be able to further my work around some of the issues I deeply care about as it related to mental health and well-being around the world… As a first step in my partnership with Global Citizen, over the past year we have worked to identify the right partner who will help us bring a bit of solace and peace to some of the displaces children in Iraq. We will be bringing Save the Children’s HEART program (which offers healing, psychological supports, and basic education through the arts) there this year.”

But clearly that is no longer an issue, as she is the voice for so many. Lovato has been the recipient of many social action awards, such as the Artistic Award of Courage, Mental Health Advocacy Award, and the GLAAD Vanguard Award. She even took the podium at the Democratic National Convention last year to speak about mental health.
