Ringo Starr Celebrates 77th Birthday And Reveals New Album
Ringo Starr announced his forthcoming album, Give More Love, on his 77th birthday yesterday.
Give More Love will be released by Universal Music Enterprises on CD and digital formats on Sept. 15. The album will feature diverse contributions from musicians like Paul McCartney, Joe Walsh, Edgar Winter, Peter Frampton, Benmont Tench, Nathan East, Dave Stewart, Don Was, Gary Nicholson and Timothy B. Schmit.
The title track is available now to those who pre-order the album. The record, which was recorded at Starr’s home studio, will also be released on vinyl Sept. 22.
The new album will feature 4 remakes of old songs: “Back Off Boogaloo,” “Don’t Pass Me By,” “You Can’t Fight Lightning” and “Photograph.” It also features 10 new songs.
On his birthday on Friday, Starr drew hundreds of fans and dozens of fellow musicians, including Jenny Lewis to his annual “Peace and Love” birthday celebration, which took place this year once again in Hollywood. As per usual, attendees started chanting “peace and love” precisely at noon.
“When this started in Chicago in 2008, there were maybe 60 or 100 people,” the Beatle said. “But it keeps getting bigger every year. My dream — my fantasy — is that one day in the future everyone on the planet will stop at noon and say, “Peace and love.”
The Give More Love tracklist was also officially released yesterday, including the song credits. You can see the tracklist below:
