Steve Harvey has found himself in trouble again after mocking a caller on The Steve Harvey Morning Show for being from Flint, Michigan.

STEVE HARVEY MAKES JOKE ABOUT FLINT WATER CRISIS

The host and comedian took a call from a man from Flint about the recent NBA finals. The two disagreed on which team deserved the championship, Harvey siding with the losing team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. The caller said that the Cavs didn’t “deserve jack,” to which Harvey had an inappropriate response.

“You from Flint?” he asked. “That’s why y’all ain’t even got clean water. When was the last time you touched water and it didn’t have lead in it?” His co-hosts were shocked and laughed nervously, trying to shut Harvey down. “I wasn’t talking about the city of Flint, I was talking about him,” he tried to reason. “He going to call in, say Cleveland doesn’t deserve jack, and he over there bathing in all that silver water.”

His co-hosts tried to change the subject until they realized the caller was still on the line, and goaded Harvey to apologize. He did not, but the caller didn’t seem upset. Things settled down until Harvey said, “one more thing – enjoy your nice brown glass of water.” At that, his coworkers shrieked.

“On behalf of The Steve Harvey Morning Show and Steve Harvey in particular, we apologize for our boss, he’s a very very sore loser,” one woman said, before Harvey continued. “Don’t shake his hand,” he said about the caller.

A huge backlash from those on Twitter. The current mayor of Flint, Dr. Karen W. Weaver even got involved and is demanding a public apology from Harvey. “I was deeply saddened by your comments about our city,” she wrote in a letter. “While I feel that it was not meant to be an intentional hurt or insult against the citizens of this community, it was.”

Despite the anger toward him, Harvey has stood by his joke. “The caller and I were talking trash about our teams and cities. I made a joke directed at him, as he is from Flint, a city for which I have great affection and respect,” Harvey said. “So much so that I devoted a full hour on my daytime talk show to raising awareness for the Flint water crisis.”
