ADAM WEST CAUSE OF DEATH
He died of leukemia. A spokesperson said West died peacefully in Los Angeles after a brief battle with the illness.
“Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight, and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero,” the actor’s family said in a statement.
Although the role of Batman was his most iconic role, West was also a recurring character on the animated show Family Guy.
West’s Batman was remarkably different from later interpretations on the big screen. The older Batman was more lighthearted, while directors Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan gave the character a much darker edge.
West was born in 1928 in Walla Walla, Washington. He is survived by his wife Marcelle West, six children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Many fans expressed their condolences on Twitter, remembering the actor in his most famous role.
