“Tom must have been walking down the road,” witness Arun Pullen told The Sun. “He went off like a shot in pursuit and looked furious.”
“I asked Tom what happened and he told me he chased him through my back garden and caught him around the block – but the route was like an assault course.”
A Richmond Police spokesman confirmed, “the males ran off and one was detained by Tom Hardy. Both suspects were initially taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”
The two adolescents are currently in police custody, and have been arrested for taking a vehicle without consent and theft.
The Taboo actor’s citizen arrest may actually prove to have a beneficial impact on the 16-year-old boy’s life. His mother claims that her son has mental health issues, and hopes that the publicity around the arrest may secure treatment for him. Searching for a rehab near me is advisable in such cases.
“This isn’t a scummy, naughty child. People with mental health issues need support and cry out for help in many different ways,” the mother of three explained to Mirror.
According to his mother, the 16-year-old has ADHD and autism, and “no fear or understanding of the world around him.”
The hopeful mother added, “Tom Hardy is from this area and turned his life around. This might help my son.”
The 39-year-old actor’s chase-down of the teenager was described by witnesses as a “switch into superhero mode in an action movie.” He sprinted through gardens and a building before grabbing the thief by the scruff of the neck. The Revenant actor then patted the thief down for weapons and checked him ID.
