Former One Direction member Harry Styles has released his first solo track since leaving the boy band.

HARRY STYLES RELEASES DEBUT SINGLE

Styles signed with Columbia records last June and posted an Instagram of what looks like a possible album cover promoting the single, “Sign of the Times,” a week before it came out.

The song is a rock ballad with a melancholy tune and lyrics.”Just stop your crying / It’s a sign of the times / We gotta get away from here / We gotta get away from here / Stop your crying / Baby it will be alright / They told me that the end is near / We gotta get away from here,” he sings over a drum-heavy background, before jumping into his falsetto. “We never learn, we’ve been here before / Why are we always stuck and runnin’ from / The bullets / The bullets.”

So far, the glam rock song has gotten rave reviews from fans on Twitter and other social media sites. The 23-year-old will perform the song live for the first time April 15, on Saturday Night Live as the musical guest, with Jimmy Fallon as host.

“I played it to them the first time and there’s one song on the album where there’s a bit with a vocal effect on it,” Styles reportedly said of sharing the track with his family. “The whole album finished then my stepdad said, ‘I’ve one question, where did you get the duck from, how did you get a duck in the studio?’ I was like, ‘That was me, thanks.'”

Styles is the second to last One Direction member to release a solo track or album. He took a brief hiatus from recording to try out his modeling and acting skills, as he picked up a role in Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming war epic Dunkirk, opening in theaters July 21.

Zayn Malik released his first single, “Pillowtalk,” in early 2016, Niall Horan, who dropped “This Town” in Sept. 2016, followed by Louis Tomlinson, releasing “Just Hold On” with Steve Aoki in Dec. 2016. Liam Payne is currently working on his own debut solo album.
