Banksy Hotel In The West Bank Opens To Guests [EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS]
Elusive graffiti artist Banksy opened a hotel in the West Bank city of Bethlehem last week.
BANKSY OPENS HOTEL IN THE WEST BANK
The Walled Off Hotel features artwork by Banksy all over the walls and looks out onto the West Bank separation wall erected by Israel. In fact, it is only four meters away from the wall itself. Banksy describes it as having the “worst view of any hotel in the world.”
The hotel offers nine rooms, from $30 for a bunk bed to $965 a night in the presidential suite. It also requires a $1,000 deposit to make sure none of the Banksy works are stolen.
“We have arrivals today from six different countries, including the US and UK, and I think most of our clients are flying just to stay here,” said manager Wissam Salsaa. “Everyone that came here thinks this is the most amazing project for letting the voice of the Palestinians be heard.”
While the project faced some criticism for the expense of the rooms, Salsaa explains that they have 50 staff members to pay, and any excess funds will go back to the community in Palestine.
The hotel’s website encourages guests to paint on the separation wall, and offers a graffiti store with “everything you need to make your mark.”
