Anne Frank Center Demands Apology From Tim Allen

The Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect is demanding an apology from Tim Allen after he compared being a conservative in Hollywood to living in 1930s Germany.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the actor confirmed that he attended the inauguration of Donald Trump. “You get beat up if you don’t believe what everybody believes,” he said. “It’s like ’30s Germany, I don’t know what happened.”

Steven Goldstein, the executive director of the Anne Frank Center, demanded that Allen apologize to “the Jewish people and, to be sure, the other peoples also targeted by the Nazis.”

“Tim, have you lost your mind?” Goldstein said in a statement. “No one in Hollywood today is subjecting you or anyone else to what the Nazis imposed on Jews in the 1930s – the world’s most evil program of dehumanization, imprisonment and mass brutality, implemented by an entire national government, as the prelude for the genocide of nearly an entire people… Sorry, Tim, that’s just not the same as getting turned down for a movie role.”

On Monday, the Center took a screenshot of an email it received that contained anti-Semitic remarks. The email told Goldstein to “quit bullying” Allen and said his “kind is as always very sneaky and calculating.”

Goldstein’s statement responded to the email as well: “As for you, Tim Allen, we say this: Look at this email to our organization, reflecting others like it, that’s the consequence of your comparing Hollywood with Nazi Germany. Emails such as this demand our sounding the alarm until you heed it.”

Allen has yet to respond to Goldstein and the Center.
