Oscar-Winning ‘Moonlight’ To Stream Exclusively on Amazon
Moonlight is set to come to Amazon Prime Video exclusively through a renewal of a deal with the production studio A24.
A24 has a pact with the streaming giant that has landed a bunch of other really good films on the streaming service, and nowhere else. Moonlight won the Best Picture award at the Oscars this year, which means Amazon made a great deal.
Prime viewers have some significant A24 movies to look forward to as well: Movies like the Casey Affleck-led A Ghost Story, American Honey (starring Shia LaBeouf) and the Oscar-nominated 20th Century Women are slated to hit Prime later this year.
In a streaming race that’s as neck-and-neck as ever, picking up Moonlight and these other A24 films should keep Amazon competitive with its main rival: Netflix. (Netflix have recently nabbed two stand-up specials with famous comedian Dave Chapelle, and season two of Aziz Ansari‘s “Master of None”.)
Moonlight comes to Amazon on May 21.
