Held in honor of Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, the songstress performed her solo hit “Sweet Escape” in front of a star-studded audience that included Vice President Joe Biden, First Lady Michelle Obama, Giorgio Armani, Rachael Ray, James Taylor, Frank OceanSavannah Guthrie, Jerry Seinfeld and John Turturro.

The 47-year-old pop star, probably chosen for her Italian descent, took the stage during the night on the South Lawn, and then was joined by Shelton, belting out their duet “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.”

Earlier in the day, the No Doubt front woman visited the White House with her three sons, where they met Obama and his wife, along with Italy’s Prime Minister and his wife, Agnese Landini. Renzi quickly took to his Facebook page to share a photo of the group’s highly anticipated meeting.

Also on Tuesday, it was announced that Stefani and Shelton will be both returning to The Voice, where they first met, thus joining Adam Levine and Alicia Keys for the 12th season of the show.

Stefani has been in the spotlight lately, since she released her third solo album This Is What The Truth Feels Like back in March. More recently, she launched her Nickelodeon TV cartoon Kuu Kuu Harajuku earlier this month.
