With her smokey voice, Hudson amazed the show’s audience by singing “Hold On” along with Fallon’s accompaniment. She confessed after her performance that she is a big fan of the ’90s R&B group. “They were like my girls,” the Oscar-nominated actress said, “I was like obsessed with them.”
The multitalented actress admitted she always wanted to make music. “I’d love to do a record,” she said. “I’ve always been scared of making music, because I like authentic [songs]. I like music that feels really honest. I love pop music! But I write music and it’s super depressing.”
It is not the first time that Hudson has impressed the public with her vocal chops. Influenced by her father, singer Bill Hudson, and mother, former dancer Goldie Hawn, the actress has showed off her voice skills several times.

Previously, she sang an original song in the film adaptation of the musical Nine. She also had a recurring role on Glee where she played a dancer teacher and performed a few songs. And there is, of course, the iconic scene from Almost Famous which she interpreted Elton John’s song “Tiny Dancer.”
