Amber Heard Files Domestic Violence Restraining Order Against Johnny Depp; Photo Released Of Actress’ Bruised Eye
Amber Heard has filed a domestic violence restraining order against Johnny Depp days after filing for divorce from the actor.
Amber Heard Accuses Johnny Depp Of Domestic Violence
Heard, 30, filed a domestic violence restraining order against Depp, 52, with her lawyer Samantha Spector at the Superior Court of California County of Los Angeles on Friday. Among the evidence Heard presented were photographs of injuries she allegedly suffered at the hands of her estranged husband.
In one image, Heard’s right eye appears bruised. The photo was reportedly taken on Saturday – the day after Depp’s mother Betty Sue died, according to TMZ. Heard has claimed that Depp hit her in the face with his iPhone. At the time, Heard was apparently on the phone with a friend, whom she asked to call the police. When police arrived, Depp was no longer at the residence.
Heard reportedly declined to give a formal statement so that police could file a police report.
In court on Friday, Heard claimed that Depp had offered her money in exchange for her silence about the domestic abuse. Instead of taking it, The Danish Girl star says she decided to file for divorce first thing Monday.
Insiders have claimed that the alleged incident over the weekend was not the first time that Depp had gotten violent with Heard.
“This was not an isolated event,” a source told People. “This was only the latest incident.” Ahead of the restraining order petition, another insider had said of Heard filing for divorce, “Amber did what she had to do to take care of herself.”
Heard, while filing for the restraining order, said that she has a video recording of Depp beating her.
Heard filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court on May 23. In her divorce filing, Heard sites “irreconcilable differences” as the cause of the breakdown of the marriage. The actress, who never signed a prenup with Depp, is seeking spousal support, reported TMZ.
Depp has since released a statement through a rep to address the divorce filing, which reads, “Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life. Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”
Depp has also asked a judge to dismiss Heard’s request for spousal support.
Depp and Heard, who do not have any children together, married in 2015 following a few years of dating after meeting on the set of 2011’s The Rum Diary.
