Kanye West joined Ellen DeGeneres on the Ellen couch on Thursday for an interview that turned into a passionate rant about the rapper’s views on art, humanity and his ability to create.
Kanye West Goes On Intense Rant On ‘Ellen’
West first admitted that he’s never regretted anything he’s ever tweeted, and when asked if he ever believed that he should think about his tweets before sending them, West told DeGeneres, “What’s the point of thinking?”
However, West did concede that tweeting at Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to ask for for $53 million dollars was a mistake.
“I should have put it on Facebook,” West said. “Now I understand why he didn’t hit me back.”
“I feel that if I had more resources, I could help more people,” West explained, revealing why he asked Zuckerberg for money. “I have ideas that can make the human race’s existence, within our hundred years, better.”
The rapper then proceeded to rant about the importance of art and how he is able to create his own.
“We’re in a renaissance period. We’re in a place where people are multi-discipline artists,” West declared. “We’re not in a place where people can only have one career or one profession throughout their entire life.”
“So the exact amount of emotion and color palette and sonics and everything that I put into my music, I put into [my line of] shoes, and they worked!” West added, bursting in his seat with energy.
“Picasso is dead. Steve Jobs is dead. Walt Disney is dead. Name somebody living that you can name in the same breath as them,” the rapper continued.
West also disclosed a medical condition that he suffers from called Synesthesia, which he describes as being able to “see sounds.”
“Everything that I sonically make is a painting,” West illustrated. “I can see it [and] I see the importance and the value of being able to experience a more beautiful life.”
