The late music icon Prince has been cremated and a private group made up of his friends and family gathered to honor the music legend.

PRINCE CREMATED AND PRIVATE CEREMONY HELD IN HIS HONOR

Prince’s publicist Yvette Noel-Schure confirmed his cremation and that his remains were released to his family Friday afternoon after a formal autopsy was performed.

“A few hours ago, Prince was celebrated by a small group of his most beloved: family, friends and his musicians, in a private, beautiful ceremony to say a loving goodbye,” Noel-Schure said in the statement.

Friends such as percussionist Sheila E. and bassist Larry Graham were seen Saturday entering Prince’s Minneapolis estate, Paisley Park. Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson and brother-in-law Maurice Phillips also were seen entering the home.

Hundreds of fans gathered around the estate to mourn the artist. Some fans were given round purple boxes. Inside each box was a handout with a color photo of the late musician and a black T-shirt with “3121” printed on it in white — the numbers were the title of a Prince album.

The last step of his farewell will be private, but a musical celebration will be planned for the singer.

Fans took to social media to pay and share their respects to the music icon.
