WEN By Chaz Dean Facing Lawsuit For Allegedly Causing Hair Loss
Celebrity hair stylist Chaz Dean has built a multi-million dollar empire from his WEN line of haircare products. WEN has proven extremely popular in the beauty product industry and has received endorsements by a number of celebrities, including Brooke Shields, Alyssa Milano and Nicollette Sheridan.

Dean’s empire is facing a major threat, however, with news that over 200 WEN customers are filing a suit against the company and its owner, infomercial giant Guthy-Renker, alleging that WEN products have caused them severe hair damage and loss.
The specific product in question is WEN’s cleansing conditioner, which plaintiffs claim caused “hair loss, dryness, breakage and other injuries and adverse effects.”
The complaint alleges that the conditioner “contains one or more active ingredients that act as a depilatory or caustic agent, causing a chemical reaction that damages the hair strands and/or follicle.”
Wen and Chaz Dean deny the claim, however, telling PeopleStyle in a statement, “There is no scientific evidence to support any claim that our hair care products caused anyone to lose their hair. There are many reasons why individuals may lose their hair, all unrelated to WEN. We intend to vigorously contest the allegations made.”
The statement continues, “We take great pride in the quality of our products and believe every product meets our high standards. We want all of our customers to have positive experiences with our products, and we encourage any customer with any questions to contact us.” That includes customers who claim the ingredient lists differ from the informercial bottles to those sold on Dean’s website, which a spokesperson explains is the result of international regulations.
