The tour follows the release of mega deluxe The River reissue, The Ties That Bind: The River Collection, a 4 CD, 3 DVD box set featuring ” comprehensive look at The River era, the set contains 52 tracks with a wealth of unreleased material, and 4 hours of never-before-seen video.”
Tickets will be available at ticketmaster.com and by phone at 1-800-745-3000 or Ticketmaster Express at 866-448-7849, with prices ranging from $68 to $155. There’s a four-ticket limit for general admission, and an eight-ticket limit for other sections.
The tour opens in Pittsburgh Penn., Jan. 16, taking in the bulk of major North American cities and finishing up in L.A. mid-March. It will mark the first time Springsteen has played the full River album in sequence live since a 2009 Madison Square Garden gig.
Speaking to E Street Radio the Boss acknowledged this pre-established set list would take most of the “guessing out of the evening, but said he would try to work in a surprise or two.
“Maybe we’ll make up for some of that in the encores. We plan on picking out some of the best of our outtakes for the end of the show, and there will obviously be some fan favorites,” he said. “I don’t know myself how it will play out. It should be interesting and a lot of fun for the fans.
He also revealed he’s working on a new solo album in which the E Street crew won’t be involved.
