Adrian Grenier Courts Controversy With 9/11 Instagram Post Noting Iraqi Civilian Deaths
Adrian Grenier received backlash after making a controversial post on Instagram for 9/11.
Adrian Grenier’s 9/11 Post
Grenier, like many celebrities, took to social media on 9/11 to remember the terrorist attack on American soil that claimed nearly 3,000 lives. However, the Entourage star sparked ire in a number of his fans and followers due to the content of his tribute.
The graphic of Grenier’s post read, “R.I.P the 2,996 Americans who died in 9/11. R.I.P the 1,455,590 innocent Iraqis who died during the U.S. invasion for something they didn’t do.”
After calling attention to the lives of innocent Iraqis that were lost in the War on Terror that followed the 9/11 attacks, Grenier was confronted with a number of irate reactions on his Instagram account. Eventually, the actor decided to delete the post altogether.
Despite the harsh reaction to his initial post, Grenier returned to Instagram with a few other tributes to 9/11. For one, he captioned a picture of Ground Zero, “In challenging moments and times of mourning, we must seek perspective to help us find peace within our choices forward. #911.”
Grenier also posted a graphic that showed the World Trade Center’s felled North Tower and South Tower as a pause sign.
