Cassidy, 64, filed for bankruptcy last Wednesday, claiming assets and debt of up to $10 million, reported People magazine. The former child star owes Wells Fargo Bank ($290,000), American Express ($21,000) and Citi Bank ($17,000). Additionally, he’s $102,000 in debt with a Florida lawyer.
A federal bankruptcy court subsequently ordered Cassidy to auction his estate in Ford Lauderdale. The home, which Cassidy purchased for $1.1 million in 2001, features six bedrooms and six bathrooms. Fisher Auction Company will host the auction Sept. 9.
“I am going through bankruptcy proceedings at the moment,” Cassidy admitted to the New York Daily News. “This is necessary for practical reasons to reorganize my life as I go through divorce and to restructure my finances.”
Cassidy’s wife Sue Shifrin-Cassidy filed for divorce last year following 23 years of marriage, just a few weeks after Cassidy’s 2014 arrest for drunken driving. It was the singer’s third DUI arrest since 2010.
