Scarlett Johansson Defends John Travolta
Before the Academy Awards ceremony officially kicked off, a picture of Travolta greeting Johansson on the red carpet was already going viral. It was dubbed “creepy,” and Johansson was said to be “uncomfortable” with Travolta’s affection. What followed were a number of memes poking fun at the Oscars moment.
According to Johansson, Travolta is far from creepy and she was far from uncomfortable. “The image that is circulating is an unfortunate still-frame from a live-action encounter that was very sweet and totally welcome,” Johansson said, according to People. “That still photo does not reflect what preceded and followed if you see the moment live.”
Johansson, who starred opposite Travolta in A Love Song for Bobby Long, called him “a class act,” adding “there is nothing strange, creepy or inappropriate about John Travolta.”
