Benedict Cumberbatch and his fiancée Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child together.

Cumberbatch, 38, and Hunter, 36, announced the pregnancy news through a rep. “I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child,” the rep told the Daily Mail. “They are both over the moon.”

On Tuesday, before the engaged pair confirmed the pregnancy, rumors were circulating that the couple was expecting, “Sophie is a few months along, and both she and Benedict are very excited about it,” a source told Page Six. “They are also quietly planning to marry in early spring.”

Cumberbatch and Hunter announced their engagement in early November with an ad in The Times of London. ““The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katherine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London,” read the short announcement.

At an event o over the weekend Cumberbatch suggested that he and Turner would be waiting to plan their nuptials until he had a break from work.

“One thing at a time,” he told PopSugar when the outlet asked what the couple was planning. “I’m playing Sherlock now – just about to start – so my main focus is going to be on that.” Reports suggest, however, the couple plans to wed in early spring.
