Taylor Swift rang in the New Year with Ryan Seacrest on Dick Clark’s Primetime New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, and a short vine of the singer tripping down stairs at the event has gone viral.

Taylor Swift New Year’s Eve 2014

Swift, whose album 1989 was the best selling of 2014, appeared on Dick Clark’s Primetime New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on ABC to chat with Seacrest and perform in the coveted 11:40 p.m. slot. The program averaged 9.6 million viewers, beating NBC’s New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly and Fox’s Pitbull’s New Year’s Revolution Pt. 1.

Swift’s performance of “Welcome to New York” and “Shake It Off” went off without a hitch, but she suffered a backstage mishap when she tripped on stairs while greeting fans at Times Square.

Swift, dressed only in tight black leggings, black crop top and a sparkly jacket, stumbled as she reached the bottom of the stage, Seacrest walking behind her. The shaky video, captured by a fan in the crowd, shows Swift stumble a bit before recovering nicely.

Swift was wearing a pair of sparkly boots with a sky-high heel, which no doubt contributed to her fall.
