Cuban Actors Of Award-Winning 'Una Noche' Seek Asylum In Miami
Javier Nuñez Florian and Anailin de la Rua, both 20-year-old Cuban actors who appear in the award-winning film Una Noche, are seeking asylum in the U.S., according to the BBC. Both actors disappeared en route to this year’s Tribeca Film Festival in New York City and emerged from hiding Friday night, telling a Miami Spanish-language television station that they are seeking asylum.
Una Noche, which is about a group of Cubans (lke Florian and de la Rua) who dream of fleeing the Communist dictatorship, won several awards last Thursday night at the festival, including Best Cinematography, for Trevor Forrest and Shlomo Godder, Best New Narrative Director, for Lucy Mulloy, and Best Actor, for Nuñez, who shared the honor with Dariel Arrechada.
