Liam Gallagher Showcases 'Pretty Green' At Nolcha Fashion Week

Nolcha, New York's leading showcase event for independent fashion, is returning for its sixth year to promote innovative fashion designers during Fashion Week — hosting distinguished guests such as former Oasis frontman and current Beady Eye band member Liam Gallagher. Gallagher's Pretty Green clothing line, reportedly named after a The Jam song and inspired by the late '60s rock 'n' roll scene in the UK, features two distinct collections. "Black Label is the higher-end one. If it was just up to me, it would just be the Black Label, all proper rock & roll gear. But some of the kids can't afford that, so we give them options with the casual Green Label. The Black Label is more suedes, more rock star-ish. Green is jerseys and denim," Gallagher told Rolling Stone.

Although Gallagher has said Pretty Green is inspired by The Beatles, The Stones, The Kinks and other late '60s British bands, he admits to bringing in new influences as well. "It is [British]. The new stuff's really cool and diverse, though," Gallagher said. "A lot of it's kind of like Indian caftans and stuff; that's all going down on the Black Label. We're experimenting now." Pretty Green, which won the Best Breakthrough Brand at the Global Fashion Awards last year, joins three others — Firetrap, Bolongaro Trevor, and Richard Smith Pret a Porter — in renowned menswear tradeshow STITCH's "Best of British" sampling during Nolcha Fashion Week: New York. "With 2012 being the year of everything British, we are excited by the opportunity to deliver a cross section of British menswear and to celebrate this with Nolcha, our New York partners," founder of STITCH Brian Duffy said of the partnership in a statement.
