College Students To Present Oscars

This year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and mtvU, MTV’s television network exclusively for college students, are hosting the “Oscar Experience College Search.”

Launched at the end of November, the Academy will choose a minimum of six lucky college students to attend the Oscars and bring the famous gold statuettes to award presenters. According to the Academy’s Facebook page, students interested in pursuing film careers are required to fill out an entry form and answer the question, “How will you contribute to the future of movies?” in a 30-second video.

Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are hopeful for this nationwide search. "In re-imagining what we want the Oscar show to be, we wanted everyone appearing on that stage to feel a deep commitment to film and its legacy, and most importantly, its future," they said, according to an official Oscar blog. "That was the impetus in creating this special honor for young film students who will inspire a new generation to create the films that will be honored in the future."
