The Wolf Of Wall Street stars Jonah Hill and Margot Robbie were thrown off by a teleprompter error at the 2014 Golden Globes when they appeared on stage to introduce their film as one of the nominees for Best Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Teleprompter Mix Up

Robbie and Hill walked on stage and, after an awkward pause, admitted that they were missing their lines from the teleprompter. Robbie was visibly flustered and Hill took the microphone, saying, “I’m not going to lie to you. Right now, they put up the wrong stuff on the teleprompter. This is for Aaron Eckhart and Paula Patton.”

Hill, known for his comedy work in films such as Superbad and last summer’s smash hit This Is The End, most likely could have improved his way through it, but Robbie, an Australian actress who made her big Hollywood debut in The Wolf of Wall Street, was more hesitant to go off the cuff.

“I’ve never done this before, so I don’t want to improvise,” Robbie admitted.

Luckily, a stagehand came up off screen and gave Robbie and Hill a printed out copy of their lines on a yellow piece of paper. Robbie couldn’t contain herself and laughed along with the audience, joking that maybe the Golden Globes were pranking her as a first time presenter.

“Maybe it was a joke that they do on rookies like me,” Robbie said, before launching into her introduction.

Robbie got through her lines, but burst into giggles after handing the paper over to Hill, eliciting another burst of laughter from the audience.
