VIDEO: Katy Perry Slams Lady Gaga
Leave it to Lady Gaga to make a music video using fake snow for the top song of summer. But the seasons aren’t the only thing Gaga’s breaking rules with. Her video for her latest single, "Alejandro," premiered Tuesday and already has almost 4 million views, so there’s no doubt the superstar is popular.
But Gaga has received much scrutiny for her use of religious symbols, and surprisingly, one of the most outspoken critics is the famously provocative Katy Perry. "Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke," Perry tweeted Wednesday.
The video, which is over eight minutes long, shows Gaga in a red patent leather nun’s outfit, a monk’s robe with nothing but panties with an upside-down cross underneath, and a scene in which the singer stands in front of several large crosses staked into the ground. The video also features risque S&M scenes and clips resembling an orgy. Gaga has previously spoken positively about her Catholic upbringing and attended New York’s Convent of the Sacred Heart, a private, Catholic, high school. –ELENA COX
