VERDICT: Conrad Murray Found Guilty Of Manslaughter

After two days of deliberating, a jury in Los Angeles found Houston doctor Conrad Murray guilty of involuntary manslaughter on Monday for the death of pop star Michael Jackson, USA Today reports. Six weeks of testimony, 49 witnesses and the closing arguments of prosecutor David Walgren and lead defense lawyer Ed Chernoff preceded the verdict.

Murray, 58, who plead not guilty to a single count of involuntary manslaughter, had no expression as the guilty verdict was read. Involuntary manslaugher means Murray "committed a crime that posed a high risk of death or great bodily injury because of the way the act was committed or the defendant committed a lawful act, but with criminal negligence; and the defendant’s acts unlawfully cause another person’s death," according to CNN.

Jackson, 50, died on June 25, 2009, of an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol combined with the sedative lorazepam. Fans of the late King of Pop began cheering outside the courthouse after the verdict was read.

The judge has set sentencing for November 29, 2011.
