SPOILERS: 'Walking Dead' Offers A Break-in And Battles With 'Walkers'
The latest episode of The Walking Dead, “Say the Word,” spent much of the time reacting to the frantic events from last week’s intense episode that marked the end of the road for T-Dog (IronE Singleton), who was killed by walkers, and Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) wife, Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies), who died in childbirth. But fortunately this episode was not all about mourning, as there were still some interesting developments in this zombie apocalypse drama.
In "Say the Word," Michonne (Danai Gurira) broke into the Governor’s (David Morrissey) house in order to get back her sword. During the break-in we learned that the Governor had been keeping a group of walkers trapped, and also had his own daughter, herself a walker, in his home. Michonne killed the Governor’s stash of walkers and realized that Woodbury was no place for her or Andrea (Laurie Holden). But Michonne couldn’t convince Andrea to come with her, so she left on her own. It was probably the right decision, as Andrea later learned that the Governor had been keeping all of the walkers so that he could hold a fighting ring between Woodbury residents among chained-up walkers: really just a creepy scene.
At the prison, the group looked after the new baby. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) retrieved some baby formula, while Rick continued to deteriorate into a grief-stricken insanity. He isolated himself from the group and went back through the prison to the site of Lori’s death. There he found a dead walker that looked to have a swollen belly, and he proceeded to violently stab at it in a bout of aggression. The episode ended with Rick answering a mysterious phone call, only we did not find out who was on the other line.
With only three episodes to go in this third season, will these two worlds of Woodbury and the prison finally meet up next week? The Walking Dead airs Sundays on AMC at 9 p.m. ET.
