Keyshawn Johnson, the former New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver, was arrested on domestic violence charges Monday morning.

Johnson, 41, was arrested in Calabasas, Calif., after getting into an argument with his ex-girlfriend that allegedly turned violent, reported TMZ. The former NFL player reportedly smashed his ex-girlfriend’s phone, consequently cutting the woman’s hand. The cause of the argument was apparently a disagreement over marriage.

Following the incident, Johnson was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery. His bail was set at 20,000, which he met shortly after getting booked.

Over the last year, Johnson has been vocal about his distaste for his pop star neighbor Justin Bieber. He famously complained about the then 19-year-old’s habit of speeding through the gated residential neighborhood last May.

During his playing days, Johnson suited up with the Jets, Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers. Currently, he works as an analyst on ESPN’s Sunday Morning Countdown. It’s uncertain how the domestic battery charge will affect his job with the network.
