CM Punk (above) and AJ Lee were married over the weekend in a private ceremony, according to reports.

CM Punk (Phillip Jack Brooks) and AJ Lee (April Jeanette Mendez), two big names in the WWE sphere, are believed to have tied the knot either Friday night or Saturday afternoon. Details on the nuptials are scarce, with reports acknowledging that the couple seems to want to keep the news quiet for now.

“We have heard from a lot of people asking if CM Punk and AJ Lee were married yesterday afternoon. From what I was told, they weren’t at that time but they did get married either last night or early this morning,” wrote Pro Wresling Insider’s Dave Scherer. “We wish them all of the best in their new marriage. We didn’t acknowledge it because we were told it was a small, private affair and they wanted privacy. I hope everyone gives it to them.”

CM Punk and AJ Lee were first linked in the fall of 2013, and by April 2014, CM Punk had reportedly proposed to his girlfriend.

Earlier in 2014, CM Punk decided to retire from the WWE in part because of nagging injuries. Since his retirement, the former standout has been grateful for the time he now has for his charity work.

“It feels good,” he said of retirement. "It’s a lot easier when you hook up with organizations like the Cubs and being friends with some of the team members. It isn’t hard to support their charities.

It’s expected that Punk, who was the longest WWE Champion of the modern era, will soon return from retirement and wage a comeback. Lee, the longest reigning WWE Divas Champion, is also currently on a break and expected to return to the ring in the near future.
