'The Shield' Actor Michael Jace Pleads Not Guilty To Murder Charge
Actor Michael Jace, best known for playing a cop on The Shield, has pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife.
Michael Jace Pleads Not Guilty
Jace appeared in court on Wednesday in Los Angeles, where he delivered his not guilty plea, according to The Hollywood Reporter. During the appearance, the presiding judge ordered Jace to neither visit with nor contact his two children if he’s released on $2 million bail.
Despite Jace’s plea, April Jace’s father claims that immediately after his daughter’s murder the actor called him to admit what he’d done. After hearing from Jace, April Jace’s father reportedly called 911, telling them that Jace had stated he’d shot April.
"My son-in-law called me, and (texted) me, and said come get the kids because he shot April, our daughter," he said in the call to a fire department dispatcher.
Police say that Jace also called in the murder.
On May 19, April Jace died at the home she shared with her actor husband and their two young boys after she was shot multiple times. A motive for Jace’s alleged murder of his wife is currently under investigation. Financial and domestic abuse issues will be evaluated as possible motives.
Jace will make his next court appearance on Aug. 1.
