JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon revealed that he’s been diagnosed with throat cancer in a letter sent out on Tuesday.

Jamie Dimon Has Cancer

In order to treat his cancer, Dimon plans to undergo chemotherapy and radiation, throughout which Dimon intends to continue helming the bank. Since the cancer was caught early, the CEO received an optimistic prognosis from his doctors.

"The good news is that the prognosis from my doctors is excellent, the cancer was caught quickly, and my condition is curable," Dimon said in the letter to JPMorgan executives and employees. "I feel very good now and will let all of you know if my health situation changes."

Corporate spokesman Joe Evangelisti reiterated that Dimon would continue to oversee JPMorgan as he battles throat cancer. "He is going to be actively involved in the business every day," Evangelisti said Tuesday night.

Dimon will receive his eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy treatments at Manhattan’s Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Dimon is currently the longest-serving top official at JP Morgan. He’s served as the bank’s CEO and president since Dec. 2005 and became the bank’s board chairman in Dec. 2006.
