Jon Voight, Angelina Jolie’s father, admitted that he was not in attendance at her wedding to Brad Pitt over the weekend.

Jon Voight Didn't Attend Angelina Jolie's Wedding

Voight, 75, was asked about Jolie and Pitt's nuptials in France early Thursday morning after the news broke. Voight admitted he hadn't known about the nuptails, saying to CBS's Inside Edition, "That's nice."

Since getting over the surprise of learning that his grandchildren's parents had tied the knot over the weekend, Voight has issued statements to comment on the wedding as details about the affair have continued to emerge. "It sounds like it was a wonderful wedding," Voight said in a statement to E! News. "It must have been very beautiful with the kids participating. I know it was during Emmys week and they were able to do it very quietly. I'm very happy for them."

Voight also revealed that he hasn't had a chance to wish the newly married couple well. "I haven't spoken [to them since they got married]," he told Us Weekly. "No, I didn’t know it was happening – it was Emmys week, so I wasn’t able to go."

Voight, who stars in Showtime series Ray Donovan with Liev Schreiber, was attending Emmys events over the weekend in which Jolie married Pitt in front of close friends and family.

Jolie is Voight's daughter with the late Marcheline Bertrand. Over the years, it has been no secret that the two have had an often-contentious relationship. Though they famously reconciled in 2010 after a lengthy estrangement, the two are not particularly close, as Voight was only made aware of her decision to seek a double mastectomy after her New York Times op-ed was published last fall.

Pitt and Jolie, who've been together since meeting on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2005, married in Chateau Miraval, France on Saturday. Each of their six children participated in the ceremony.
