There was concern that Cersei’s pivotal nude penitence scene would be absent from the upcoming season of Game of Thrones, but it has recently been revealed that the show will be able to move forward with the crucial scene.

Cersei's Nude Scene Saved

Game of Thrones was scheduled to film actress Lena Headey in the naked Cersei scene in which she's stipped and shamed by the High Septon last week. However, the Croatian film commission would not permit it based on the feelings of the church in which the scene would be filmed. The church, in Dubrovnik, Croatia, apparently has strict policies when it comes to nudity and public displays of sexuality, according to TMZ.

The local film commission, under the direction of the church, refused to give Game of Thrones' producers the permit for the scene that was scheduled to be shot in the Church of St. Nicholas.

Fortunately, the scene, which producers feel is crucial to the storyline, have found a solution. Headey, as Cersei, will be permitted to walk down the streets of Dubrovnik in the nude. However, she still won’t be allowed to be nude inside the church, reported TMZ. That part of the sequence will now be shot on a mock-up set designed to look like the inside of the church.

Game of Thrones' fifth season will premiere on HBO sometime in 2015.
