Vanessa Redgrave plays the wife of Arthur (Terence Stamp) in the British indie hit Unfinished Song. How did the pairing of these two British acting titans come off? “Well he’s a brilliant actor. He’s also a wonderful colleague by which I mean that he enjoys the work, he enjoys exploring the character he’s clearly always enjoyed the work,” Redgrave told uInterview exclusively. “He puts himself into it, he puts himself into the character.”

Redgrave thinks the key to her Unfinished Song character is that she isn’t too complex. “I think she’s an ordinary woman,” Redgrave told uInterview. “She feels she’s very lucky cause she’s got a husband who she knows loves her … and she’s ready to challenge him.”

Q: What'€™s the key to understanding your character Marion? - Uinterview

I think she'€™s an ordinary woman, who was a teacher, who taught young kids and the English circumstances always without the funds to properly fund her school, but she poured herself into trying to communicate to kids her love of life. And I think you can'€™t love life, unless you also know the downsides of life as well. And she feels she'€™s very lucky cause she's got a husband who she knows loves her Arthur, played by Terence Stamp and she's ready to challenge him if she thinks he's profoundly rude. She wont speak to him unless he apologizes to the other ladies and gentleman in the old peoples choir. But she loves him to bits, and she knows he loves her to bits so the film kind of shows the different angles, her view of him and which proves to be true and he does come out with his true colors like a rainbow, from behind the clouds. And the point is you don’t have to be an eternal optimist to know that the clouds cant cover the sun forever.
