Maggie Gyllenhaal

She was Batman's love and now she's playing a nutty professor in the critical hit Away We Go. Maggie Gyllenhaal takes questions from users of Uinterview.com.

Kim, Texas Q: In Away We Go, are any of the families that are shown in the movie like the way you and Jake [Gyllenhaal] grew up?

-Kim, Texas

A: My parents were pretty bohemian, but not quite in that way. When I was pregnant, my fantasy of being a mother was everything was going to be organic, I would have cloth diapers and hand wash them myself... all of these kind of fantasies were all in the kind of [my character] LN's direction. She is as far in that direction as you can be be. I definitely have a stroller. I live in New York. [My character]'s nursing her 4-year-old and I'm not that far over. I thought it was funny because I do know a bit about parenting in that way, and living in Park Slope, [Brooklyn], I know people who are even more over in that way than I am.
Matt, Los Angeles Q: You worked with great comic actors in Away We Go with Maya Rudolph and John Krasinski. What was the funniest moment you had on set with them?

-Matt, Los Angeles

A: John and Maya were doing comic bits and comedy all the time. I was laughing all the time. I was only working on [the movie] for four days. The first day I worked I hadn’t worked for a long time – I had just been mothering – I was dying to go to work. I really missed it. I was shooting that very first scene where I’m nursing my 11-month-old. And, of course, in a movie if you have an 11-month-old you have to get twins. So I was acting with these two 11-month-olds who were so unhappy to be in the movie. So I can to work saying, 'I'm an actress agai!' and I spent the whole day mothering these two babies and that was kind of funny for me anyway.
