Jack Lowden was born in Chelmsford, Essex, England on June 2, 1990 (Jack Lowden Age: 33). He was raised in  Oxton, Scotland. He has a younger brother, Calum Lowden who has made a name for himself in the dance community. It was his brother’s drive for dancing that got Lowden into acting to begin with.

“My younger brother is a ballet dancer and he wanted to be one from a very early age, so I went along with him. And my parents – I’m fortunate enough to have parents who just let us do what we wanted to do. When I went with him, I wasn’t very good,” he told uInterview exclusively.  “My brother Calum was exceptional, and that’s what he now does. He’s in the Royal Swedish Ballet. He’s a first soloist over there.  So I just sorta gradually — in this ballet school they gave me more and more of the acting roles. I was the guy who sort of walked on and would narrate the dancing, and I realized ‘I’m getting a lot fewer dancing roles here, and I’m a phenomenal dancer!’  So I kind of fell into it that way. That’s where I felt comfortable. That’s where I felt at home. There’s no romantic story in mind.  I just realized one day that that’s what I could do, and of course, you can make a living from it, so I went on and did it.”

After his attempt at dancing, his parents proceeded to enroll him in the  Scottish Youth Theater in Edinburgh. Lowden then received a BA in Acting from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow as part of the class of 2011.
