Stars Wars Episode VII is in the works, and actor Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the original episodes, claims to be in talks for the next franchise installment. Rumors have been circulating for months now that Disney owns LucasFilms.
Today Disney announced that, not only are they buying Lucasfilm Ltd. for $4.05 billion, but they will begin making new Star Wars films under the name, with a release date for Episode 7 expected as early as 2015.
Rocksteady Games really enjoyed something of a Cinderella Story with their 2009 sleeper smash-hit Batman: Arkham Asylum. Coming out of nowhere they all but revolutionized the idea of how brand name titles should be treated – intelligently and with thought, who knew?! – and delivered one of the most intricate and involving action-adventure games in recent years.
If it wouldn’t be viewed as complete and utter desecration of a minor classic we would say that now would be the time for a Hollywood remake of Castle in the Sky. It has everything a hit of today needs; big spectacles, flashy flying sequences, an over abundance of pyrotechnics, and a teeny tiny amount of human emotion.
