The debut feature for filmmaker Matt D’Elia (who also plays the lead in the film) American Animal premiered at SXSW in 2011 garnering the beginning stages of cult intrigue. The film centers around two roommates, (conveniently named) Jimmy and James, two trust fund-supported twenty-something’s the primary existence of which revolves around deciding whose turn it is to use the shower, sleeping with their friends (conveniently both named Angela), and pot.
