The Mindy Project TV Review: 'Santa Fe' Tests Mindy And Danny's Friendship
04/12/2013
This week’s episode of The Mindy Project perfectly represented why I love the show—and it’s not just because creator/writer/star Mindy Kaling is one of the most brilliant women working in television. No, ‘Santa Fe,’ was a great episode because it was funny, wacky, and developed the characters beyond a silly bit. The Mindy Project, with its romantic comedy core, could easily end up being a series of cruel romantic comedy sketches. For example, every episode opens with Mindy declaring her romantic fantasies, and this week was no different.

'Mad Men' TV Review: Season 6 Returns With Focus On Death
04/10/2013
At long last, Matthew Weiner's Mad Men is back, and it has brought along its trademark brooding attitude (you know you love it). This two-hour premiere moves slowly with few grand events, but then so does the Great American Novel most of the time. It’s the same old Mad Men we know and love, but with more facial hair and pot. In this episode, death seems to follow the characters everywhere, both literally and figuratively. Much of the cast is preoccupied with feelings of hopelessness and fear over the imminence of their own demise.

'Game of Thrones' TV Review: Arya Stark And Jaimie Lannister Return In 'Dark Wings, Dark Woods'
04/10/2013
This week’s episode of Game of Thrones, "Dark Wings, Dark Woods," seamlessly brought back series favorites Arya Stark (Maise Williams) and Jaimie Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), along with a host of other characters that never made an appearance in Valar Dohaeris. Their return reminded me of watching The Wire, a show that admired for its storytelling. There were so many intriguing characters in The Wire, but not enough screen time in each episode to showcase everyone’s abilities.

'The Following' TV Review: A Different Kind Of Guilty Pleasure
04/10/2013
The Following, FOX’s newest thriller/drama staring Kevin Bacon may just be my guilty pleasure. I’ve never been a fan of the term "guilty pleasure" because no matter how trashy I refuse to feel guilty for enjoying it. But The Following isn't one of those shows that's so bad it's good, it's one of those shows that's so damn creepy and disturbing that it makes me question my sanity for enjoying it. This feeling, of course, is pretty much the point; as ‘followers’ of the show, the audience simultaneously becomes ‘followers’ of a mass murderer.

'How To Live With Your Parents' Elicits Laughs, But Lacks Substance
04/05/2013
The new ABC show How to Live with Your Parents (for the Rest of Your Life) is a mix of as many possible sitcom clichés that could be thrown together in one series. However, I won’t say the show outright lacks heart, because the actors certainly bring their "A" game to some otherwise incredibly dry material. As the pilot episode begins, we meet Polly (Sarah Chalke) and her daughter, Natalie (Rachel Eggleston), who have just arrived on Polly’s parents’ doorstep. We then fast forward to six months later, as Polly is still living in their home.

Part 2: Speculations For 'Mad Men' Season 6, Based on Released Stills
04/05/2013
With the premiere days away, Mad Men’s cast and crew still haven’t revealed any details about the show. But with these recently released stills from season 6, fans can speculate about potential plot lines for the upcoming season. Oh what’s going on here? Looks like Don’s just having a drink. Nothing new there, right? Wrong! Look at the suit! The relaxed collar! The posture! Don Draper (Jon Hamm) has grown tired of the New York winter and moved to Bourbon County, Kentucky to follow his true passion: whiskey.
