Barbra Streisand To Perform At The Academy Awards
Barbra Streisand is set to sing at the Academy Awards this year, marking the second time in thirty-six years that the two-time Oscar winning actress and singer will perform. Streisand sang the theme "Evergreen" from A Star Is Born during the 1977 Oscars, for which she won the Best Original Song award that night.
"In an evening that celebrates the artistry of movies and music," said Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron in a press release, "how could the telecast be complete without Barbra Streisand? We are honored that she has agreed to do a very special performance on this year's Oscars."
Streisand, who most recently starred alongside Seth Rogen in The Guilt Trip, has won two Oscars, one for A Star Is Born and Best Actress for 1968's Funny Girl. She has also been nominated for her work in The Way We Were with Robert Redford, The Prince of Tides and The Mirror Has Two Faces.
No word has been given yet on what song she will sing at the ceremony, but knowing her voice, it will most certainly make for a memorable performance.
