Tracy Morgan will host Saturday Night Live for the first time since his accident, NBC announced on Monday.

Tracy Morgan Returns To ‘Saturday Night Live’

Morgan is set to host Saturday Night Live on Oct. 17, according to a NBC press release. The former SNL cast member has been recovering from multiple injuries after the June 2014 car wreck on the New Jersey Turnpike.

The comedian suffered broken ribs, a broken nose and broken leg when a Walmart tractor-trailer collided with his limo bus and has been struggling to get back on his feet for months.

Morgan finally returned to television in June, in which he shared with viewers his hopes for the future, on the SNL 8H set during an interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer.

“I love comedy and I wonder how I’m gonna be funny again,” Morgan told Lauer. “Remembering my identity — what do I do?”

Morgan battled through tears when talking about his fans, who he said have encouraged him to “come back.”

“I can’t wait to make them laugh again,” Morgan said.

The comedian shared his excitement with fans on Twitter on Monday. “Stoked to be going home…#SNL,” Morgan tweeted.

NBC also announced that Miley Cyrus would open the 41st season of SNL on Oct. 3 and Amy Schumer will host the show on Oct. 10.
