Tracy Morgan made a triumphant return to the Emmy stage more than a year after his tragic car accident to present the award for Outstanding Drama Series.

Tracy Morgan At The Emmys

Morgan shocked the audience at the 67th Annual Emmy Awards when he walked out on stage towards the end of the awards ceremony. The crowd of Morgan’s colleagues responded to his surprise appearance with cheers and a standing ovation.

“Thank you,” said a tearful Morgan. “Thank you so much. I missed you guys so much.”

“Last year, Jimmy Kimmel said on this stage, ‘We’ll see you back here on this stage, Tracy Morgan,’” Morgan said. “Well, Jimmy, thanks to my amazing doctors and the support of my family — my beautiful new wife — I’m here, standing on my own two feet.”

“God bless all of you and your love and your prayers, positive thoughts over the past 15 months,” the comedian said. “I’m honored to be back at the Emmys. I always have been honored to be here. It’s been a long road back. I suffered a traumatic brain injury that put me in a coma for eight days.”

“When I finally regained consciousness, I was just ecstatic to learn I wasn’t the one who messed up,” Morgan cracked to laughter from the audience.

The Saturday Night Live alum also brought back one of his classic jokes to close out his speech: “Only recently have I started to feel like myself again, which means a whole lot of y’all women are gonna get pregnant at the after party.”

Morgan went on to announce that Game of Thrones had beaten out Better Call Saul, Downton Abbey, Homeland, House of Cards, Mad Men and Orange is the New Black in the Outstanding Drama Series category.
